Farah, a woman in her mid-40s, came to us worried about her thinning hair. Diagnosed with both female pattern hair loss and telogen effluvium, she had lost around 30% of her hair density. Although her scalp was healthy, the dual impact of hormonal changes and stress-induced shedding had significantly affected her hair’s volume and made her self-conscious. Farah wanted to address the issue before it worsened and was determined to find a solution to regain her hair’s natural fullness and health.

After Farah, a woman in her mid-40s, came to us worried about her rapidly thinning hair. After examination, Gary Heron diagnosed a dual condition: Female Pattern Balding driven by hormonal changes, and Telogen Effluvium triggered by stress. Together these had caused a 30% reduction in hair density. Although Farah’s scalp was healthy, the combined impact left her self-conscious and anxious about the condition worsening.
Gary designed a 12-month treatment programme using 15% Vitastim and 15% Biostim applied twice daily to simultaneously address both conditions — stimulating follicle activity, reducing the stress-triggered shedding, and halting the hormonal progression of the pattern thinning.
After a year of treatment, Farah’s hair showed significant improvement. All the thinning areas recovered, giving her a fuller and healthier appearance. The transformation boosted her self-esteem and confidence, and she felt like herself again — a testament to how effectively targeted treatment can tackle two conditions at once.
"I was losing hair from two directions at once and feeling really low about it. Gary explained exactly what was happening and tackled both conditions together. A year later, my hair is fuller than it's been in years."
— Farah, Female Pattern Balding client
Female Pattern Balding (androgenetic alopecia in women) is the most common cause of hair loss in women, characterised by gradual diffuse thinning across the crown and top of the scalp. Unlike male pattern baldness, the hairline is typically preserved. It is driven by a genetic sensitivity to androgens and is often exacerbated by hormonal changes such as menopause. Early specialist diagnosis is essential — the condition is progressive but highly treatable when caught early.
