Diffuse Thinning Recovery: Hanna's Hair Loss Story
14 months treatment · Diffuse Thinning
In December 2017, Hanna discovered she was expecting her first child and was naturally over the moon, but with raging hormones and the stress of managing her diabetes, she noticed her hair was falling out. Every doctor and midwife she spoke to assured her it was completely normal and not to worry. However, Hanna and her mum wanted to get a professional opinion upon the thinning of her hair.

After Hanna’s Hair Loss Issue: Pregnancy-Related Diffuse Thinning
Hanna discovered she was pregnant in December 2017 and noticed significant hair shedding shortly after. Despite reassurances from doctors and midwives that it was completely normal, Hanna and her mother sought a professional opinion. Gary Heron examined her scalp and diagnosed diffuse thinning driven by a combination of hormonal changes from pregnancy and the physiological stress of managing her diabetes. While the diagnosis matched her symptoms precisely, Gary was confident a full recovery was achievable with the right approach.
Hanna’s Treatment Plan
Gary prescribed a 14-month treatment course combining 20% Vitastim and 20% Biostim applied twice daily. For the first 6 months, this was complemented by Follicle Builder treatments every other day to provide intensive follicle stimulation and accelerate regrowth. The programme was designed to halt the shedding, reactivate dormant follicles, and restore Hanna’s full density.
Hanna’s Outcome
After 14 months, Hanna’s hair made a complete recovery. The excessive shedding stopped, her hair returned to its original thickness and health, and her confidence was fully restored. In her own words: "Gary saved my hair, which, in turn, made me feel pretty again."
"Gary pretty much diagnosed me as soon as I walked in the door. Now my hair is better than ever. Gary saved my hair, which, in turn, made me feel pretty again."

What is Diffuse Thinning?
Diffuse thinning is an overall reduction in hair density across the scalp without a clearly defined pattern. It can affect both men and women and is often a symptom of an underlying condition — such as nutritional deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, hormonal imbalance, or chronic stress — rather than a standalone diagnosis. Accurate identification of the root cause is the first step, as the correct treatment depends entirely on what is driving the thinning.

“Diffuse thinning is rarely as straightforward as it first appears. Accurate diagnosis is essential — treat the root cause and the hair will follow.”
